Cm-6.30.13  1st Kings 19.16B, 19-20  Ps. 16. 1-2, 5, 7-8, 9—10, 11  Gal. 5. 1, 13-18  Luke 9. 51-62

Cosmic connection: beautiful blue sky day that promises to be a scorcher

Question of the day: How might I invite Jesus to come and rest in me?

In Kings we have the call of Elisha by Elijah

Humanly Elisha has a few excuses

Elijah does not put up with those abuses,

As Elijah’s attendant Elisha followed and sang Hallelujah.

In life we must learn to live in the moment

The spirit and the flesh are at war our freedom at a cost,

If we stress the flesh then we become lost,

And accept the savior as a good omen.

The Lord is our refuge and our inheritance

The Lord’s presence is what we seek,

Delights at his right hand forever our striving our technique,

Our genetic heritage coming from our Creator at our birth without arrogance.

Jesus calls us as disciples; we too must not be filled with excuses,

We must keep our hand on the plow

Going directly forward in this present moment. We cannot agree to follow and then not, our vow

As his disciples we are instrument of His, a thing of Beauty, elegance.

‘Bless the Lord my soul,’ I proclaim,

‘All my being bless his holy name.

Cm-6.29.13 Acts 12. 1-11 Ps. 34. 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9  2nd Tim.4. 6-8, 17-18  Mt. 16. 13—19

Cosmic connection:  Clear blue skies. It will be a warm one

Question of the day: How might I increase my faith to be more like theirs?

A Solemnity, a great feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul

A day of celebration for the service done by centuries of our Sisters in

Germany, Altenhohehau Bavaria.

Two men who were so different Peter the one who could name Jesus as the Christ

Paul called to conversion, blinded and thrown from his horse after being a persecutor.

Peter the fisherman called from hi boat becoming the rock upon which to build a church. “Do you love me” Lord you know that I love you” Feed my sheep.

Paul imprisoned and freed by an angel praying to be brought to the heavenly kingdom.

Peter you are rock and the gates of the nether world shall not prevail.

Let us be builders of the Church as each of us contribute our own tale.

CM-6.26.13  Gen. 15. 1-12, 17-18  Ps. 105. 1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8-9  Mt. 7/ 15-20

Cosmic connection:  gray foggy day might clear

Question of the day: How can I produce better “fruit” that reflects my love of God?

Abram makes a covenant with God,

God promises heirs from his issue,

Abram’s faith in God is more than a piece of tissue,

By the number of heirs promised, ’stars in the sky, sand on the shore’ we are quite awed

This covenant with Abram will be remembered forever,

For us it is our Baptismal covenant which will be remembered

Especially as ‘our way’ is surrendered.

This leads us to gratitude and singing   his wondrous deeds as our pleasure.

Jesus warns us about false prophets and bad and good fruit.

Bearing bad fruit leads to being cut off and thrown into the fire in soot

But we are the righteous letting the Word take root

Living this Word as people of action our fruit shall be our Way our route.

Remain in me as I remain in you,

Live in the presence of the Lord with the Spirit imbued.

Cm-6.25.13  Gen 13.2, 5-18  Ps. 15. 2-3A, 3BC  5  Mt. 7.6, 12-14

Cosmic connection:  gray threatening skies, deep cloud layer

Question of the day: What makes it hard for me to follow this advice?

Lot and Abram are two brothers who must divide the gift of land.

Lot goes eastward into the fertile Jordan valley

.Abram wishes them to go separate ways not to fight about it nor sally.

For all time the land has thus been divided we understand.

‘The one who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord.’

The blameless one who gives freely without exorbitant prices,

Who does no harm to a fellow human being,

Such a one with love and compassion others freeing,

With a peaceful heart daily suffices.

Jesus wants us to go the less traveled way.

Each will have his/her narrow gate,

We are to treat others as we would like to be treated.

There are few who find this way; we work at it every given day.

‘Jesus is the Light of the world,’

In the Spirit is our Christian Spirit unfurled.

Cosmic connection: gray foggy, damp, day, quiet, muffled

Question of the day: How can I live more fully the dedication of my Christian birth at baptism?

The Birth of John the Baptist,

Called from parents who were elders,

Loyal Jewish people barren but waiting for the blessing of an elder,

They followed the commandments and the laws as their practice.

John like any of us was formed intimately by God in the womb.

As any child of God we are wonderfully made,

What God puts together is beautifully arrayed,

Let us proclaim that what God has made is good and our work resume.

‘You child shall be called the prophet of the Most High’

Living in the dessert so dry.’

In the womb John was formed and called to be the forerunner of the Messiah,-the Light from a candle

He preached in the desert a way of repentance and proclaimed his unworthiness- to loosen his sandals,

John would be persecuted and martyred for his efforts, the bridge between the testaments we rejoice in his birth

Cosmic connection: gray overcast threatening skies

Question of the day: How shall I thank God for the gifts of grace in my life?

We are to ponder one question today that Jesus asks:

“Who do you say that I am?”

He asks this of all his disciples, as if an exam,

Many are his titles through life emphasized as we need to accomplish our tasks.

Desire is the theme of our Psalm

An incurable longing for a relationship with God

The awesome God of the Creation story powers so broad,

All people are one such a unity in the diversity our balm.

Then Jesus tells us of his passion

And how passion is part of every disciples call,

Denying us and picking up our particular cross as it befalls.

Therefore we try to lose our lives for the sake of Christ learning love and compassion.

“My sheep hear my voice’

And learn how to daily praise, thank and rejoice.

CM-6.22.13  2nd Cor  12. 1-10  Ps. 34. 8-9, 10-11, 12-13    Mt. 6. 24-34

Cosmic connection: Clear crisp blue skies, still, small birds

Question of the day: What keeps me from focusing my full attention on God?

Paul has much to boast about

But he insists on boasting about his weaknesses,

Because then whatever happens is by the power of grace each person’s uniqueness

And grace is from Jesus Christ, the one about whom we shout.

The goodness of the Lord is what we seek and wish to taste,

The Lord delivers us and will bless us,

Keeping us in peace without distressing,

This grace we wish not to waste.

Seek then, O Christian the Kingdom of God

Don’t worry, trust all else will be provided,

Then you will have a heart totally undivided,

Because by the Lord you are so totally loved by whom we in turn laud.

Jesus emptied himself and became poor although He was rich,

So that by His poverty we might become rich and enrich
