CM-5.23.13  Sir.5. 1-8  Ps. 1. 1-2, 3, 4, 6  Mk.9. 41-50

Cosmic connection”: cold overcast noisy birds

Question of the day: What can I do today to live victorious over sin?

Sirach today teaches not to rely on much except the Lord; Most poignant we are not to delay our conversion,

Always with sin to have an aversion,

For the Lord is the one whose power we rely upon that He may be adored.

The focus of the psalm is on hope.

The just person delights in the law of the Lord,

Such a person is planted like a tree near running water or a fjord.

Otherwise we are living on the slippery slope.

Jesus concentrates on whatever causes us to sin, hand eye;

We should cut it off, better to do without it than end up in Gahenna

As if we should turn and concentrate on the teaching of the Madonna,

Only on \the grace of the Lord should we rely; keeping our salt to apply.

‘Receive the Word of God,

Not as persons but as it truly is the Word of God.’

CM-5.22.13  Sir. 4. 11-19  Ps. 119. 165,168, 171, 172, 174, 175  Mk. 9. 38-40

Cosmic connection:  bright blue sunny skies quiet

Question of the day: What good deeds c could I accomplish if I put my faith in Jesus?

My question of the day is what is wisdom?

The Word today does not give a clear answer direct

Neither does the human need to be perfect

It is not just good sense or accumulated learning we are to inspect,

But rather that which comes from God for the Christian.

Wisdom it is who breathes life into her children,

Do not be upset by giving her feminine attributes,

Men are unwilling to give women equality despite what we contribute,

Loving the law is the mantra of our psalm for us pilgrims.

Jesus emphasizes that anyone who is not against us is for us.

Others are gifted and graced to do Jesus deeds,

We are not to prevent others from doing mighty deeds, which succeed,

If we prevent others then our Christian living becomes porous.

‘I am the way the truth and the life’

No one can come to the Father except through Jesus’ gift of faith so rife.

CM-5.21.13   Wikipedia on Hyacinth Marie Cormier Dominican saint.

Coming to church this a.m. I found the readings were not those of my ‘Living with Christ”

Experience taught me it must be a Dominican saint for which we change the readings.

Since I didn’t know anything about this saint succeeding,

But this Gospel aptly was about discipleship sufficed.

Cormier was a sickly man                                                                                                               unable to accept the habit because he could not stay well for a month,

His problem was a hemorrhage, he loved to munch.

He rose to be the Master-General of the order never deadpan.

He served giving generous peace

Known to have levitated while praying before the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel of the Angelicum. Far from the police.

He was wholly honored at his death,

He lay in state in the chapel

He was beatified shining like a ripe apple,

Always trying to stay well until he took his last breath.

Cm-6.20.13  Sir. 1. 1-10  Ps. 93. 1AB, 1CD-2, 5  Mk. 9. 14-29

Cosmic connection: blue sky day cool, birds

Question of the day: What evil am I confronting?

Wisdom’s throne is established in the highest heavens,

Who made the earth the stars and all that dwells therein,

The wisdom is within the word is wisdom’s fountain, the place to begin,

The Lord has poured out this wisdom upon all his works forgiven.

‘The Lord is robed in majesty’

What does that mean beyond our comprehension?

Our thoughts and reflection seeking some apprehension,

Our thoughts centered on this Lord who constructs such a tapestry.

Jesus heals a man’s son who has a mute evil spirit within him

His apostles were unable to heal this child,

Jesus healed the boy and the father smiled,

This kind of evil can only be healed by fasting and prayer from original sin.

Our Lord Jesus Christ has destroyed death

Through the Gospel comes the Holy Spirit’s breath.

Cm-5.18.13  Acts 28.16-20  Ps. 11. 4, 5, 7  Jn. 21.20-25

Cosmic connection: blue sky day with scattered clouds

Question of the day: When have I let my envy of others take my focus off my own relationship with Christ?

Paul continued to preach the Gospel until his completion.

He was innocent but remained a prisoner for the Lord,

How many of us are prisoners of our afflictions, needing healing seeking to be restored

Each desiring a great life with little diminishment and depletion.

Our desire should be to see the face of the Lord,

For it is the just who looking at the face of sisters and brothers,

Can see their need fulfill it as no other,

Hoping that all despite diversity will live in one accord.

Peter shows his envy of John who might remain longer,

Jesus brings Peter up sharply;’ what is it to you if he should remain,’

You are called to follow me my refrain.

Then you shall remain stronger.

‘I will give you the Spirit of all truth,

Who will guide you to all truth.’

Cm-5.17.13  Acts  25. 13B-21  Ps. 103.1-2. 11-12, 18-20AB  Jn.21. 15-19

Cosmic connection:  beautiful blue sky day birds noisy crows hungry.

Question of the day: To what service of others is my love leading me to?

It seems everyone is on trial today,

Paul in Jerusalem and Rome,

Peter asked by Jesus three times ‘do you love me’?

Peter was told to feed the sheep; to tend the sheep; to love the sheep and to follow the disciples’ Way.

Bless the Lord my soul,

All my being bless his holy name,

To praise and to bless and be grateful all the same,

Not to do so is to dig for yourself a big hole.

Poor Peter asked three times

I wonder why he didn’t just grow silent:

“You know that I love you.” I am compliant,

Patiently listening to all his crimes.

‘The Holy spirit will teach you

And remind you of all that I have told you.’

Cosmic connection:  gray overcast humid about to rain day

Question of the day: What new insight about God have I received this Easter season?

Unity is the theme of this day:

Jesus wants us to be one with himself and the Father both,

Paul is encourage to take courage that he might give witness not only in Jerusalem but also in Rome showing growth,

The dispute between the Pharisees and Sadducees almost becomes violent as each tries to have his say.

The Psalmist makes a cry for safety

Because God is his hope, trusting in the Lord to keep his lot,

Knowing that even in a night’s sleep the Lord gives us counsel on the spot,

Asking the Lord to show the path of life how to follow it not hasty.

The Last Discourse of John is difficult to parse

Having one Johanine course is not enough,

Jesus exhorts us to unity; he gets tough,

Looking at our world such unity is quite sparse.

“The Holy Spirit will teach you everything”

Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithful show us we are not dreaming.
